The Donda West Effect On Liposuction

When Kanye West’s mother succumbed to plastic surgery complications a hornet’s nest was released in international cosmetic surgery circles.

Mrs. West’s death is believed to be the result of a doctor’s inability to see through her heart disease and yet go ahead with a multiple plastic surgery operation. One of the treatments she had was a liposuction procedure.

Liposuction is a major elective cosmetic surgery as is well known and unless the patients have not got past the rigorous screening they are considered ineligible for treatment. Mrs. West was believed to have consulted an independent plastic surgeon who advised her against the surgery before she went to the doctor who would ultimately operate on her.

Lawmakers are currently pushing for a bill that could help avoid such unfortunate cases and put cosmetic surgery practices under stringent measures. The Donda West Bill has already been introduced and it requires the patient to produce a clean bill of health before being considered for liposuction or any other surgery.

In neighboring Canada, a similar torrent of medical checks and certifications have been in amendment following the death of a woman due to liposuction surgery complications.

Rather then being apprehensive about these measures, the Plastic Surgery Institute of California is pleased with the calls for better facilities and a higher level of professionalism in the practice. Visit us to know how you can benefit from the Donda West Effect.

Liposuction Or Lipocontour – Which Is Better?

Lasers have done much towards introducing amendments and advances in liposuction surgery and lipocountouring has left a similar mark on the cosmetic surgery procedure.

Lipocontour or lipo-selection, unlike the body contouring garments by the same name, is an excellent way to get rid of fat deposits from localized parts of your body. However, this minimally invasive technique applies ultrasound techniques rather than laser.

Going by names like LipoContour and VASER Lipo, lipolysis systems are great at attacking those precise areas of the body where fat is unusually stubborn and unwanted. These liposuction approaches differentiate fat deposits from the surrounding tissue, blood vessels and nerves.

While some lipo-selection systems liquefy fat before suctioning it out from the body, some simply remove it out. The incisions made for the liposuction surgery are very negligible and are made in those places where the patient needs to slim down more.

It is better to follow your plastic surgeon’s advice on this liposuction technique though as he will be able to show you the bigger picture and how it will affect your body overall.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we operate patients and administer such treatments only if the procedures have been tried and tested. For a full diagnosis you can get in touch with any of our experienced liposuction consultants who will then direct you to a board certified plastic surgeon.

Liposuction Help - Putting Fat To Good Use

Fat can be really good for you and doesn’t have to be the foe to fear at all, even if you are a tad overweight. With the help of some cosmetic liposuction and select body contouring procedures, your plastic surgeon can help you put fat to good use in various parts of your body that lack or require it.

Furthermore, the results can be very attractive as well if used in the face. Fat transfer procedures started out as fillers for the facial area and added volume to sunken cheeks and wrinkly scars.

Plastic surgeons moved on to put fat to much grander uses by augmenting the buttocks, biceps, hands, breasts and calves with it. The great part about a fat transfer using fat removed from a liposuction procedure is that it’s your own body fat.

You aren’t damaging the environment in any way and neither are you exposing yourself to any potential infection known to come (at times) with synthetic implants. The only point against this plastic surgery procedure is that the fat that is transplanted gets absorbed by the body.

Only about 40 percent or so of the fat that is transferred remains in place calling for a repeat procedure. This can turn out to be a good thing though if your body contains excessive amounts of fat.

So don’t wait to burn off fat, recycle it at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California with a liposuction procedure.

Christian Bale, Liposuction & Milk

How Va va Voom does Christian Bale look in the Body by Milk ad eh?

The Bat-suit is looking edgier this time around with 34-year-old Bale tamping out his pretty-boy looks for the brooding Dark Knight. Of course it goes without saying that to get into the Bat-suit you have to be super-fit (hey, that’s what superheroes have to be!).

Not many people can roam all the time in a superhero suit with contours that match (or don’t) the ones on their body though. This is why liposuction procedures like liposculpture and abdominal etching are a blessing of sorts for the abs- and pectorally-challenged.

What these procedures do is work on the fat that’s present in the abdominal region using liposuction surgery techniques. One cannula is used to remove excess fat and skin from the abdominal region and another is used to create faux abs.

While actual muscle tissue is not manipulated to create the grooves in the abdominal area, the liposuction surgeon works on the fat in the area. So your tummy looks like it has actual abs- only they are made of fat.

Complete results are obtained within six months of the procedure when the cuts can be viewed very prominently. However, certain cases are known to display the effects much sooner. Exercise and weight maintenance plays a major role here.

Listen to Christian Bale and guzzle up foods rich in protein like cottage cheese, milk, fish, eggs and pulses.

Get in touch with the Plastic Surgery Institute of California for further info on liposuction procedures.

Is America Winning The War Against Obesity?

Very soon children like Amy (see below) won’t have to think about a liposuction surgery to control a swelling body. Very soon pre-teens will have healthier eating habits and will be better at exercising.

These goals don’t seem lofty anymore and could actually be eventualities we can learn to expect of the current obesity trends are anything to go by. The findings reported by The Journal of the American Medical Association laid bare the data gathered by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last Wednesday.

The study finds that obesity among American children has reached a stalemate and some factions think it may be due to all those anti-obesity campaigns. However, the study also noted that there would still be 32 percent of children who would remain obese.

Nonetheless it is important to grasp at this ray of hope and work towards getting your child back on the road to physical fitness.

It may seem easy to take the less bumpy road and resort to plastic surgery procedures like liposuction to make life better for your kid. But it’s never really been an easy way out where children are concerned.

Plastic surgery for children is not a good idea and is hardly a mark of good parenting skills. There is no telling the adverse effects liposuction procedures may have on some children later in their lives.

Be certain you have a good plastic surgeon advising you on the best course of action for your overweight or obese child. Visit the Plastic Surgery Institute of California for further help.

$20 Million For A Teenage Liposuction That Went Wrong

Seven years after 18-year-old Amy Fledderman succumbed to complications arising from liposuction procedures passed away, the jury reached a decision that gave immense solace to the parents of the teenager.

They awarded $20.5 million for damages incurred by Amy’s family as well as for compensation for their emotional loss. Their attorney said the jury decision was “some sort of omen” as the jury convened to pass the verdict on the seventh anniversary of the fateful surgery.

It seems the plastic surgeon accused of botching up the cosmetic surgery procedure was not licensed to practice certain cosmetic procedures and was even ordered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to refrain from doing so.

The facility where the procedure was carried out was also ruled out as it was not designated as an ambulatory surgical facility.

Note: The Plastic Surgery Institute of California recently acquired this certification and like a select few practices in California is board certified by a body like the ASPS.

But what we do find baffling is Amy’s age and the readiness with which her parents assented to a liposuction surgery. A tummy, leg and chin liposuction for an 18-year-old whose body hasn’t developed completely is not something that most plastic surgeons advice parents and children for.

Unless a patient faces difficulty in mobility and has certain health problems, our advanced surgical institute does not consider teenage liposuction a good decision on part of the parent and the child.

Get in touch with us to know what you can do to assist weight loss in your child.

Some Fun Things To Do While Waiting For Your Liposuction Date

Next to anyone at all would shy from the liposuction surgeon’s knife while contemplating the procedure. But this sentiment is generally expressed for other surgeries as well and is not limited to an elective surgery like liposuction.

So while you are waiting for the date when you will finally enter the operation theatre for your cosmetic liposuction procedure there are some cool things you can do to put up more with your flabby odds and ends.

The FDA recommends potential patients to try and downplay their size or emphasize it using clever clothing tricks. That’s easier said than done for most people. While some maybe fashion-challenged, some could be fiscally challenged as well.

But take a look around the Internet and you will come across a ton of places where you could get some help to make the best of your pre-liposuction surgery body.

For instance, stretchy velvet and lycra is an absolute no-no for over-sized people, but the folks at Winter Couture like to bend those rules. And oh, Kiyonna does some wonderfully wicked job with lace and prints. Here’s a nice list of sites for the full-figured fashionista.

But if more plus-sized dresses are the last thing you need then go all out with some of the easy-to-make scrumptious pasta treats at I Love Pasta. I’m in a good mind myself of trying out the Chicken Tequila Fettucine tonight.

You can always try out one recipe a day till your liposuction surgery date draws closer. And don’t forget to let the Plastic Surgery Institute of California know how your efforts pay off.

What Do You Get When You Put A Man In A Girdle?

You gotta love the 21st century.

It gave us cool things like the iPhone, Madonna and modern girdles.

Oh don’t laugh at the last one. Our forefathers might have used girdles in a forgotten era, but they are all set to make a comeback in fashion. The only difference is modern girdles are sexier and have nothing feminine about them!

More commonly referred to as shapewear or a bodybriefer, these body contouring garments are an amazing way to get an idea about how you would feel after a liposuction procedure. As you must be aware of, liposuction procedures are cosmetic surgery procedures to minimize fat in the buttocks, thighs, calves, hips, waist and chest areas.

Depending on the area you want worked on, the liposuction surgeon can remove excess, unwanted fat from that area and trim down the body. Further cosmetic surgery like an abdominoplasty can then be had to tone up the muscles, tighten them and shuck off excess skin.

With body contouring garments you can get an idea about how your body will look post-liposuction. But if you want to wait till you have a follow-up tummy tuck then we suggest you wear the garment till you do so.

There are a lot of things men can do to stay in shape, and exercise need not be the only route to a fit appearance. Get in touch with the Plastic Surgery Institute of California and we’ll let you know more about what you can do.

Liposuction-ed Thighs And Latex Pants:

This is one woman who won’t be needing liposuction in a hurry!

Fergie- the female component of the Black Eyed Peas and solo artist in her own right- totally rocked the Rockefeller Plaza with her callisthenic abilities this Tuesday. The recording for NBC’s Today sure got a spectacular jazzing up of its own!

Clad in tight latex pants 33-year-old Fergie did crazy one-handed cartwheels for the show AND kept on singing. Now us mere mortals would have been a tad breathless after pulling a stunt like that, but the feisty Fergie continued without flustering.

Talk about professionalism.

Fergie seems to be in better shape lately and is gung-ho about her new footwear line which she is set to launch for Spring 2009.

She wasn’t always that fit though, but hey, teenage life is all about looking awkward for the most of us. Rumors of various plastic surgery jobs done to get her current look abound as well and include procedures like face lift surgery, breast augmentation and maybe liposuction procedures at one point of time.

They all seem to have paid off rather well though as she’s still scorching the music charts with ‘Labels or Love’- her song for the Sex and the City movie. Good going I say!

Liposuction Model – Naomi Campbell

One-time queen of the runway, Naomi Campbell just turned 38 and is still the madcap everyone has come to know and love er, tolerate.

But there’s no denying that Naomi yet possesses that scintillating spark which made her the undisputed queen of modeldom in the early 90’s. Her eyes may be framed by fake (and totally expensive) lashes, but they still look perfectly preserved.

Speculations of Campbell having had plastic surgery to aid her preservation efforts abound but have never been confirmed. A lot of women aspire for looks like hers though when they think of having any cosmetic surgery procedure.

For instance, take her thighs and fabulous arms. They look very well-toned and barely have a single ounce of fat out of place. Liposuction surgeons frequently hear requests for arms and legs to be sculpted à la Naomi Campbell.

Not surprisingly, it is her lower body shape and appearance that is requested as her breasts are average-sized (34-B) and not really her best feature.

Naomi’s legs are indisputably must-haves for any liposuction procedures or lower body lift surgery patient as her vital stats are believed to be those of the perfect woman.

So what do you think: Are Naomi’s legs liposuction surgery must-haves? Let the Plastic Surgery Institute of California know.

A Liposuction-ed Body In A Leopard Print Car

Oh no. how much ever pleased we were with the makeover Mel B had for her stint as an Ultimo model, we are less than loving her latest foray into the spotlight.

It’s the leopard print limo I am referring to, which she arrived in for a birthday celebration for her hubby Stephen Belafonte at the Villa. Notorious for being a celeb haunt, the Villa was host to a stripper show for the darling husband, while for her choice of accessories Mel B raised a lot of eyebrows.

She did make some right choices when she decided to lose her tubby body though. Widely speculated to have had some liposuction and a tummy tuck surgery, Mel B dumped the excess weight and her ex-husband and started with a new life.

Formerly known as Scary Spice of the Spice Girls, this mother of two was not exactly in tip-top shape. A major breakdown post the split from Eddy Murphy, Melanie took an active interest in her life and went on to perform in Dancing with the Stars and release two albums.

While both these ventures didn’t strike gold, Mel is still very optimistic about it all and is in the midst of another album. Oh well, at least her ‘alleged’ liposuction surgery lasted long enough.

Liposuction And The Princess Of York

This is one of my favorite princesses.

The Phillip Treacy fascinator and Alexander McQueen dress Princess Beatrice wore to her cousin Prince Peter Phillip’s wedding has got me liking her even more. As a royal princess, you are expected to dress sedately and look demure and pastel.

But Beatrice and Eugenie, the two daughters of Prince Andrew have sent that image to the bin.

The photos taken of her during her holiday in St. Barths however were decidedly unfashionable though. Beatrice’s bikini almost went for a swim as a huge wave struck and did nothing for her curves while it was on.

To my plastic surgery sensitive eyes, Bea definitely looked like a candidate for some liposuction followed by a tummy tuck. She could get multiple liposuction procedures performed in her thighs and hip area.

Beatrice has a typical pear-shaped body which means her upper body is smaller in proportion to her lower body. A liposuction surgery can get rid of excess fat in Beatrice’s lower body regions and get it in proportion to the rest of her body.

Liposuction or a lower body lift would involve controlling and maintaining body weight for Princess Beatrice though. But a little exercise won’t harm a person who wants to get the best results out of a liposuction surgery.

Neck Liposuction – What Do You Know About It?

One of the more delicate cosmetic liposuction procedures, neck liposuction is usually requested in combination with a face lift or a neck lift surgery. For facial re-contouring however, this plastic surgery procedure is excellent.

Intravenous sedation is required for a neck liposuction procedure and it usually does not take more than an hour. If you have selected a board certified plastic surgeon, you have a better chance against developing complications like damage to the mandibular nerve in the jaw, irregular liposuction and oversuction of fat from the neck region.

Besides the plastic surgeon’s expertise, it is also the patient who needs to possess the medical requirements necessary to have this liposuction surgery procedure. There cannot be too much fat that can be displaced from the neck of the patient as it could lead to an overlying tissue contraction.

Since this plastic surgery procedure is a combination procedure, it stands to reason that the cosmetic surgeon you select is a board certified doctor and hold considerable merit in the field of cosmetic face surgery and liposuction.

Do not hesitate to ask your doctor about his client record and examples of before and after photographs of his previous neck liposuction patients. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California can help you know more about this surgery technique if you have any doubts.

Christina Ricci And Liposuction? Dangerous Thought

Her latest movie Speed Racer might have bombed the box office, but this is only a minor setback for Christina Ricci’s film career.

Known for her quirky choice of roles, Ricci has established herself as an actress without any inhibitions. She is even rumored to have sent the director of Black Snake Moan naked pictures of herself to bag the role of a nymphomaniac.

But I wonder if she sent them before she lost so much of her body weight or after. Christina, regardless of her petite size and frame was no wastrel of a woman in her early days as the girl-child Katrina from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Her battle with anorexia still leaves her with skepticism about the glam business’ obsession with the prefect body and she states that if she would enter showbiz today, she would be called overweight.

Christina, despite her small size says she wouldn’t rule out having cosmetic surgery of any kind. Looking at her delicate size, it would be better of she went in for some plastic surgery procedures that add to her lost curves- like a breast augmentation or a face implant surgery.

Cosmetic surgery procedures that reduce body fat and volume like liposuction or tummy tuck surgery wouldn’t be a good idea as she has very less body volume right now to begin with.

Let’s just hope that she makes the right choice of plastic surgery procedures in accordance to her body size.

Liposuction Alternative – Velasmooth:

Mischa Barton was caught flashing cellulite again and her thighs looked no better now than they did the last time. It’s good to know that she’s still ‘homely’ under all the war paint.

But sadly, Mischa’s rep had to go and spoil my opinion about her by saying that some sneaky person did a nasty photoshop job on her and gave her the thighs of an 80-year-old. Oh yes, we know you have it baby. Hiding cellulite ain’t gonna change it!

Its not like cellulite is harmful- the only harm it does is cause certain parts of the body to look less pretty than the rest. So for those of you, who like Mischa have a problem with cellulite you can think about having a Velasmooth treatment.

This cosmetic surgery treatment is a very convenient noninvasive alternative to liposuction surgery and makes use of infra-red energy and radio frequency to do the job. The Velasmooth device is available at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.

Using the hand held device, plastic surgeons can achieve results similar to what liposuction surgery can accomplish. Body contouring in a painless manner is the best part about this plastic surgery treatment.

Oh, and another thing- Velasmooth is cleared by the FDA for the medical treatment of cellulite. So now you can enjoy significantly smoother skin in the hips, abdominal, buttock, arms, calves, and neck and bra line areas without worrying too much.

Get a step ahead of Mischa and get in touch with our advanced surgical institute for liposuction surgery in Orange County and other noninvasive treatments for treating cellulite.

Liposuction Alert - Robbie Williams Rocks The Lard Tub

He’s thirty three years old.

He’s worth £130 million.

He’s Robbie Williams.

So would you have him? A few years ago a lot of women would have stripped for him and a lot of men would have turned green with envy. But rollover to 2008 and his hiatus from his singing career, women aren’t sweating too much over Robbie Williams and the men are more then ecstatic.

Currently residing in sunny LA, Robbie Williams has gained pounds of weight and looks nothing like the pin-up boy of pop group Take That. He looks like a candidate for some serious liposuction surgery or weight loss.

His dark, devilish looks have given over to a shaggy mop top and a beard you could hide in. According a survey carried out by the Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, one thirds of British men worry that they might end up piling on the pounds like Robbie Williams in their middle age.

Another 18 percent are wary about beer bellies that are difficult to banish.

And thankfully, both these problems can be remedied with liposuction procedures. Robbie Williams could certainly do with this cosmetic surgery procedure that’s specially designed to take good care of fat that has become difficult to control or lose.

Think you need some cosmetic liposuction work? Get in touch with the Plastic Surgery Institute of California. We have some great plastic surgery solutions that might work just fine for you.

Liposuction Advances For The Summer Season:

When laser assisted lipolysis came onto the cosmetic surgery scene it brought about a major revaluation of fat removal and body contouring processes like liposuction and tummy tuck procedures like a mini-abdominoplasty.

Devices like Cynosure’s SmartLipo™, Sciton's ProLipo™ and more recently Osyris’ Lipotherm™ have enabled plastic surgeons to offer their patients less painful avenues to shape their body. These devices are classified as equipment applied in laser assisted lipolysis.

Laser assisted lipolysis devices target laser beams to those areas of the body containing localized fat deposits. The concentrated beams dissolve fat by liquefying them. While the SmartLipo™ device uses a 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser fiber to rupture fat cells and suck them through a cannula, the Lipotherm™ device takes care of localized fat using a smaller concentration of laser beams (980 nm).

These devices however accomplish the liposuction procedure without any need for surgery. They are considerably safer than fat dissolving injections as well, which are yet facing the wrath of the FDA.

For the summer season, these non-invasive liposuction laser treatments are a great option because they do away with a lot of the discomfort patients face during recovery from a liposuction surgery.

A point to remember however, is the limited areas these laser assisted devices can treat which include only small areas like the calves, lower back, knees, etc.

If you want to know of more ways in which you can enjoy your summer get in touch with our consultants at the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.

Why Liposuction Is Not A Good Idea If You Have Popping Veins:

The popular fitness reality show American Gladiators is going to air its second season on NBC tomorrow and (OMG!) the Gladiators are staggering images of perfection!

On a more serious note though, has it ever occurred to you that almost all of these buffed and super-fit gods and goddesses seem to have bulging veins crisscrossing their bodies? The women especially looked rather fierce (and hot!) according to me.

The prominent vein appearance is actually because people who have such heavy muscle mass also tend to have less subcutaneous fat in their skin. Angelina Jolie would be a good example to cite out here.

Her body fat content is very low and her rigorous exercise and dieting regimes are legendary. Except for Madonna, the lady doesn’t seem to have any other competition!

So, if you fall in that category of people who have less subcutaneous fat (less than 15 percent), chances are you won’t need a liposuction surgery in a hurry. Even a hint of flab in your body should be taken as a sign from god and should be worked hard on to multiply (just kidding).

It may sound strange, but in order to have a liposuction surgery there is a limit for the total body fat you need to possess and can remove. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California can help you out here. Give us a call at our advanced surgical institute.

A Liposuction In Beverly Hills Art Form - Abdominal Etching:

Abdominal etching as the name suggests while not your traditional art style is definitely a modern plastic surgery technique.

A lot of people argue that plastic surgery is an art form, albeit one with serious consequences if the art techniques particular to it are not appropriately followed. An abdominal etching procedure therefore has certain requirements that the liposuction plastic surgeon has to ascertain are fulfilled.

The nature of abdominal etching is such that it can work only on removing excess fat and skin. It cannot be used for tightening up muscles or removing them. In this, it is a typical liposuction surgery procedure.

Thus, one of the first requirements for this cosmetic surgery procedure is a liposuction or tummy tuck candidate that has localized deposits of fat in their abdominal area. Patients possessing excessive fat deposits are not recommended to undergo this procedure.

This liposuction procedure involves shaping grooves in the underlying fat layers so that once recovered, the patient’s stomach will have the ribbed appearance characteristic to washboard abs. Because of the detailed work warranted by the surgery, it is best you establish that your plastic surgeon is skilled and is a certified cosmetic surgeon.

The Plastic Surgery Institute of California can help you out here. Get in touch with us and we’ll advice you further on abdominal etching liposuction.

Gastroplasty – The Prelude To Liposuction:

Darlene Cates, one of the stars in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? underwent a gastroplasty in 1981 when the surgery was yet in its early stages of development. Since then there have been many changes and improvements that have been introduced in weight loss surgeries like gastroplasty, which are increasingly being used to treat the overweight and obese over the world.

This weight loss surgery procedure made use of stomach staples and created a smaller pouch in the stomach. It was the first totally restrictive operation performed for treating obesity. This technique however did not take immediate care of the fat deposits present in a patient’s body.

Doctors found that the plastic surgery procedure known as liposuction was the answer to this problem. Patients can have a liposuction surgery to drain the abdominal and surrounding areas of excess and unwanted fat. For the morbidly obese this is an excellent solution to get rid of body weight that weighs them down.

One important point that patients have to remember though is that liposuction procedures do not take care of the skin that is left behind after the removal of subcutaneous fat. For this a tummy tuck surgery or a mini tummy tuck can be of help.

You might want to discuss this with an experienced plastic surgeon and your personal physician before you take any further step though. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California recommends taking this step because all the surgeries involved are major and warrant many considerations.

A ‘Flab Jab’ Going To Replace Liposuction? Not Likely:

It just might get icky if you try to wriggle out of a flab jab – a basically soy-based injectable.

Touted as the next big-thing in plastic surgery for dissolving unwanted fat, this cosmetic treatment is being preached as an alternative to a liposuction surgery. Also called lipostabil and lipotherapy, Phosphatidycholine could have a dangerous effect on the patient who is using it instead of a liposuction procedure.

A study conducted by the Independent on Sunday found disturbing data about this treatment. Regardless of manufacturer warnings that the ingredient is not to be injected into fat, it is being applied in several cosmetic surgery clinics.

Quick-fixes tend to leave long-lasting effects on the user- many of them bad. This is generally the small print ignored by many plastic surgery patients who want to scrimp up on money and settle for a sub-standard job.

Get a liposuction procedure performed by a plastic surgeon that has his credentials right and is licensed to practice. Ask around. Check up. Make inquiries. After all it’s your body which is being entrusted into his hands.

Hunks Get Ready For A Chic Body With A Snazzy Liposuction Beverly Hills:

Men are now realizing that they too can benefit from the age-erasing, body-sculpting effects of cosmetic surgery. Studies have shown that the male plastic surgery trend is closely tied to career advancement.

An increasing number of men are opting for liposuction procedures to get rid of unwanted fat deposits and enhance their body contours.
